Recommendation for CLA on Victor shutter

Message non lu par Dennis L »

Hello, I am looking for a recommendation for someone who does CLA's on older large format lenses in Western Europe at an affordable price. I have a Victor shutter made by Rochester Optical, the blades and pistons have become very sluggish lately. I do not want to attempt this myself.

Hello Dennis
First of all, could you clarify the meaning of "CLA" acronym
Cambodian Living Arts ?...... :turlututu:

More seriously, Victor shutters were made by Bausch & Lomb

Hi Daniel, yes I believe you're correct, I think the shutter itself is by Bausch & Lomb. The must have teamed up with the Rochester Optical Co. Either way it needs a good Cleaning, Lube, and Adjustment to get the 100+ years of grime off of it.

Not an easy issue ! :gratgrat:
Most of people that were facing the problem are recommending to clean the parts and dissolve the old lubricants by means of naphta / lighter fluid.
Furthermore, the shutter actuation may be made easier applying extra fine powdered graphite on shutter leafs.
You may find some discussions on the net regarding this matter but guys involved in such discussions often disagree on the method to be used and also , for some of them, did not tested the method they are recommending.
