Chronology of cameras Couffin

Traduction de Manuel M

Much advertizing announced the Malik Reflex, produced by Couffin. Although a selling price is sometimes indicated, it never was in store window.
It is about a traditional reflex camera, with centring by pentaprism. The lens is interchangeable with bayonet with clearance take-up. There is a preselection of the diaphragm by a small lever in fronting which it is necessary to cock before release.

This specimen is an camera of “expansion”, i.e. that it is functional, but systematically broken down because of a small part designed to prevent the double exposures.

The return of the mirror is instantaneous, but there remain small levers designed to make pull up the mirror at the time of the cocking.

The cocking is fast thanks to a lever located in fronting.
The roller-blind curtain shutter allows speeds B 30 60,125,250 500. synchronization flash X and M is done with the 1/30 second. Slow speeds (30 15 8 4 2 1) are regulated by the button in fronting.

Other prototypes exist, of which certain equipped with a photocell integrated into the mirror, according to the patents of Georges Roy-Morin (“Le Génie Photographique d’Angers” of Patrice Barraud. ISBN 2-9523164-2-1-4)

Malik Reflex camera with the 50 mm Sogenor open to 2.8. Sleeving to simili-leather black

Malik Reflex camera with its interchangeable lenses. Couffin being also president of the “Société Générale d’Optique”, it is the latter which will conceive and manufacture the few specimens of preproduction. (This corporate had incorporated the Huet company and the Challier optician)
On the left, “ZOOMALIK F = 35 - 75 mm 1: 2.8 SGO n° 0080” variation of focal distance by a big side serrated roller.
On the camera, the “SOGENOR F = 50 1: 2.8 SGO-PARIS n° 0014”
In the center, “AUTO MALIK LENS 1: 1.8f = 135 mm N° 100088”. This lens seems to be a quite posterior “Soligor” at the launcht envisaged of Malik Reflex. Found with a ring 42 with screw, I could mount it on Malik Reflex with the ring of the 220 mm origin. Enigmatic point to clear up.
On the right, “SPECIAL MALIK F = 220 1: 4.5 N° 2675”.

Some products Malik SGO:

On the left, a lens Zoom for 8 mm movie camera. Variation of focal distance by a side button modifying the frame in the viewfinder. It beras the Huet brand, which had just joined the SGO.
In the center, one Micron Malik and a Tele TV, optical add-in for the movie camera Eumig S 2 whose Couffin was the importer (since 1932).
On the right, a lens of enlarger “S.G.O FRANCE F = 90 1: 3.8” same optics is also under the name of “Challier”, optician also incorporated to him in the SGO
Behind, a slide containing a thermometer which can be projected casted on a screen to prove the effectiveness of cooling “Blow Air Cooling” of the projectors.
