Chronology of cameras Canon
Traduction de Manuel M
It is about a camera priority at the speed with some features of resemblances to F1.
Its originality is its Copal shutter, which is mechanical for “fast” speeds and which becomes electronic for slow speeds (exposure time equal to or higher than the second), by the means of the use of the self-timer. Paradoxically, this operating process will appear only later on the F-1. Canon privileging the robustness of its F-1 had to test some reserves to integrate a little young electronics in its upscale. Of another side, to privilege mechanics allows a saving of battery and operation, even in the event of absence of battery.
The Canon AE-1, which will replace to some extent this camera, proves perfectly unusable without battery because of its electronic shutter.
