Chronology of cameras Canon
The Canon A35 Datelux was the first Canon camera to have a built-in flash. Additionally, the "Date" function, which was usually made possible by expensive accessories (data backs) only available on high-end cameras, allowed non-specialist users to print the date on each photo, which could be useful for various professions (construction or project tracking, inspections, sales presentations, etc.).
The date printing (year, month, day) is done in the lower right corner of the image. The manual adjustment mechanism is in the lens barrel, similar to the Datematic. When the date function is activated (front slider set to "date" ON), if the shutter release is pressed halfway while the camera is armed, the date appears at the bottom center of the viewfinder.
The extraction, activation, and removal of the flash are manual (button on the back of the camera). The flash operation is fully automatic with the Canon system (CHATS), which adjusts the aperture according to the shooting distance and film sensitivity.
