Coronet Box-Bill

Traduction de Ian Seymour

This camera was distributed in France and features in the Tiranty yearbook for 1933. Constructed from cardboard, it was intended for use by children and has a characteristic reticulated finish. Curiously, the catalogue describes it as being covered in "genuine leather" which is not true (there was no Advertising Standards Agency in those days!). The unusual lens surround is another distinctive feature.

The camera has a single shutter speed and the lens - according to the catalogue - is "a good meniscus". Beyond such euphemisms, one has to acknowledge that the Box-Bill was good value, selling for 33 francs in 1933.
