Chronology of cameras Minolta
History of the brand Minolta New window

Traduction de PB

Created by Minolta in 1975, named XE in japan, XE-1 in Europe and XE-7 in USA and built like a "tank". It's a fully automatic camera
with aperture priority based on the automatic exposure system developped for the XM.
The metal vertical shutter was developped by Copal & Leitz and is more quiet than a cloth horizontal shutter. An other advantage is the
flash synchronisation till 1/90s. Aperture and Shutter speed are displayed in the viewfinder.
Leica and Minolta had a good relationship at that time and the XE model was also the base of the Leica R3.

Main features :
- Speed 4 to 1/1000, B, Synchro X 1/90
- Double CdS cells meter
- Aperture preffered mode
- 12-3200 ASA, +- 2IL
- Aperture and speed information displayed in the viewfinder
- On-off Switch
- Control of the battery
- possibility to use it in full manual mode without battery with B and X.
- Viewfinder with focusing screen and microprism

Delivered in standard with an MD Rokkor 50mm f:1,4, or 50mm f:1,7 lens.
