Minolta XG7

Traduction de PB

It was created by Minolta as a less expensive camera with automatic features in comparison with the XD-7. The controls are almost the same as the XD-7, but positioned in a different way. One of the new features introduced in this camera is the "touch switch" which uses the natural conductivity of the human skin to activate the meter after the shutter release is on. To gain cost Minolta suppress also some other functions as the shutter preferred exposure mode and replace the shutter by a traditional cloth one which is more loud and doesn't permit a synchro flash X at a higher speed than 1/60s. Others cost saving are the turn-off of the meter in manual mode, the necessity of a battery even in manual mode, the limitation of the film speed from 25 to 1600 ASA instead of 12-3200, the replacement of the silicon cell by a CdS, no possibility of multiple exposure.

The XG-7 was also named XG-2 in Europe and XG-E in Japan.

Main features:

  • Speed 1 to 1/1000, B
  • CdS cell
  • Aperture proffered mode
  • 25-3600 ASA,
  • Possibility to add an auto winder in option with a maximum of 2 frames / s
  • Interchangeable film back
  • Finder info with shutter speed displayed in the viewfinder
