Agfa Silette I

Traduction de Manuel M

One of the very many versions of the Silette range!

This camera is rather basic. It has a Gauthier “Prontor 125” shutter (thus limited to the 1/125) and a AGFA Agnar 1: 2.8/45 mm lens with focusing of the distances by helicoid ramp with mixed informations of distance per number and symbols.

For loading a film, it is necessary to move a lever under the sole of the camera and to remove the back in the manner of FOCA. The exposure counter placed on the left side of the camera decrease the number of exposure taken. One should not forget to correctly position it (manually) with each film change.

This alternative puts off of first Silette I by its marking and the position of its logo. On the previous model, the logo is with the left of marking “Silette I” and there are a hub cap around the window of the viewfinder and area of indication of the name. These differences are so tiny that the catalogs as Grenier-Natkin don’t speak about and always illustrate about it with the photograph of first Silette I. (see publicity below)
