The T4 had the difficult task of replacing the T3, whose disappearance was announced on the 32nd Photography Exhibition of Paris in November 1977. It is positioned as a motorized T3 with external similarities with the TC. Indeed, this is the first Konica that has the possibility of having an engine (2 im / s), the following model will have an built-in motor unit: it will be the famous Konica FS1.
However, the T4 is better performing than the CT. Its shutter has metal blades, of the Copal type. It is purely mechanical. So the device can operate without a battery at all speeds.
A few things have disappeared, to keep the price at the same level and to compensate the extra cost due to improvements. The film loading system has been simplified to return to a simple receiving spool.
This is an automatic camera with speed priority. The light metering is performed by 2 TTL Cds cells.
The lens is a Konica Hexanon AR 40mm f / 1.8 which has, like all lens of the brand, a very good reputation.
In conclusion, this 35mm SLR is a complete and compact camera the grip of which is very nice. Even if fitted with its motor, it stays relatively light. Its viewfinder is bright and offers to spectacle wearers a real comfort.
