Chronology of cameras Canon

Traduction de Manuel M

Since 1981, year when tops of sales (3 million specimens) had been achieved, Canon had not ceased seeing its sales tumbled down, to achieve in 1989, the number of 1.3 million. Canon thus chooses the town of Berlin, symbol of revival, to present in September 1990, its new spearhead.

Canon had studied the market and noticed that the sales of the cameras and the films increased, but that the sales were done more and more on compact the “advanced ones” at tight prices. Canon Eos 1000 answered specifications identical to that of these compact, while making it possible to change lens, all that with less than 3000 francs, which seemed to be the psychological threshold which prevented the amateur from going of compact to the reflex camera.
To manage to decrease the price (and the weight also condition of choice), Canon reconsidered its manufacturing methods, relocating its assembly lines, largely using the plastic and by decreasing the number of parts.

Eos 1000 was sold in two kits: the first, very widespread, associated the camera body with a zoom (non-USM) 35-80 mm, and the second, with, moreover, one zoom 80-200 mm.
The functions of this camera body are those of the other Eos camera bodies: multi priority, multi-programs etc…
