Vivitar limited a long time its activity to the manufacture of lenses and flashes, before launching out, in 1989, in that of the reflex cameras and compact. After the series of V2000, V3000 and V4000, in 1994, it is the turn of V50. The market concerned is that of the customers of the amateurs not wishing to release a large budget to be equipped. Thus V50, with its standard lesn, was worth approximately 1200 francs . It is an automatic with aperture priority. Who says better (less expensive)?
How was this possible?

With looking at this camera well, one recognizes Minolta X-300 there. The Chinese manufacturer Seagull repurchased with the Japanese manufacturer the chains of production of X-300 and with resold with American Vivitar, part of his production. After some final improvements, one obtains a cheap SLR camera full compatible with the series of Minolta lenses.
