Chronology of cameras Vivitar

The Vivitar V3800N is a Pentax K mount SLR camera with manual exposure control.
It features multiple exposures and depth of field preview.
As the shutter is mechanical, the camera can be operated without batteries, the latter being only used for the TTL light meter.

For once, Vivitar has not sourced from the Japanese manufacturer Cosina but from the Chinese manufacturer Jiangxi Optical Instrument General Factory. Indeed, the V3800N is a rebadged Phenix DC303N.

Alike the Phenix DC303N, the Vivitar V3800N has also been available in gray (top cover and bottom) with the inscriptions in white letters.

This Vivitar was sold either with a Vivitar 50mm f1:1.7 fixed focale or with a Vivitar 28-70mm f1:3.4-4.8 zoom.
It was available for sale on the Adorama website (New York-based dealer) from at least March 2004 to January 2012.
