History of the brand Bellieni New window

Traduction de Sylvain Halgand.

This binocular probably dates from the last decade of the nineteenth century. It was manufactured in Nancy.
But with what does one recognize a binocular ? It is of a solid photo camera (without bellows) and about trapezoidal form, with a finder in the axis of the lens. This finder consists of two folding parts. The store which contains the plates is removable.

The lens is with horizontal and vertical off-centering. The lens is Doppel anastigmat Goerz (Berlin) of 130 mm I did not find an indication of aperture. The piston in bottom and on the left of the lens is the shutter release, of pneumatic type.

The nickelled part is at the same time used to arm the shutter and to regulate the shutter speed. To arm, it is necessary to turn this part by using the small lever which overflows about it (here in high position, therefore obturating armed). Concentrically is laid out a graduated caster from 0 to 5. It corresponds to the speed regulation. The shutter seems very fast.
The setting of the distance is done while turning the lens with the quite visible button on the photograph, around the lens. Between the shutter release and the serrated roller of winding of the shutter a small beam is which makes it possible to choose between Time exposure and Snapshot. Vertical off-centering is adjustable with the serrated roller located under the camera. Horizontal off-centering requires to only push towards the left, all the front face of the camera.
