Eos Elan 7E is the American name for the Eos 30 which was sold in Europe from 2000.
Light, comfortable in the hands, with a motor allowing 4 frames per second, a fast autofocus and an accurate light mesuring system, it is one of the best cameras that I have ever used.
The choice of the autofocus point with the eye is very efficient (unlike the Eos 50E which is much more slow and hesitant).
According to a "Chasseur d'Images" test, several components have been borrowed to the other cameras of the Canon range: the chassis of the Eos 50, the seven AF sensors of the Eos 300 and the computer of the Eos 3.
An optional grip (BP-1), screwed into the bottom plate to allow the two expensive DL123/CR123 batteries to be replaced by four AA batteries.
It is presented and described here with an Ultrasonic zoom lens of 35-80 mm, but the camera was sold in a kit with a 28-90 mm lens of the same aperture.
