Il s'agit du frère du Chinon Auto GL-S. Il partage le même corps en plastique, et on voit très bien sur le GL-S, qu'à l'emplacement de l'émetteur et du récepteur du faisceau de l'autofocus du GL-AF, il y a une surface inutilement vide. Outre le fait qu'il soit autofocus, l'objectif du GL-AF est un peu plus lumineux.
