Chronology of cameras Imperial Camera Corporation

Traduction de Sylvain Halgand

Imperial was the new name of “Herbert George” since 1961. The change of corporate name did not change the creed of the company which was to manufacture simple and popular cameras. The cameras are made of plastic, of a very limited handling. The colors are often enough sharp compared with those of the remainder of the production photographs (it seems Tupperware ).

__________

Starting in 1961, the Herbert George company was succeeded by Imperial. The cameras produced by the new brand continued in the same vein as those of Herbert George.

According to the patent application dates, Imperial remained active until the early 1980s but increasingly shifted production to Asia.

The patents filed by Imperial Camera Corp. list George Irwin as the inventor, who had already worked for Herbert George in the latter half of the 1950s. The illustrations accompanying the patent applications correspond to Herbert George or Imperial cameras and accessories.
