This camera made it possible to make photographs with the format 14 mm X 14 mm on a 17,5 mm film. Other cameras in the same type are available under multiple names, but Hit is that which gave its name to this category. However, the first camera of this type (manufactured before the second world war) was not Hit, not even Tougodo.

On these cameras, all is small, the film, the finder, shutter release etc…

Why such cameras?

Japanese is for a long time addict on photography. In the years which preceded the WWII , the Japanese people were under the yoke of a demanding warlike totalitarianism that all the resources available are put at the service of the arming. The available film were rare and expensive. These small cameras, very economic, use a film of 17,5 mm, which corresponds to 35 mm cut into two in the direction length.
