Chronology of cameras Agfa
In 1925, the Rietzschel company (a manufacturer of cameras) and Agfa (a manufacturer of photographic products) merged. Only the name Agfa was kept.
This plate camera, with a format of 9 x 12 cm, was the first camera of the new brand. This model, manufactured since around 1910 by Rietzschel, was quickly abandoned in favor of other more modern models.
This particular specimen is in poor condition, as found in a flea market. However, it still has its original back and ground glass. It also has some interesting features, in addition to its rarity. It is a horizontal folding camera with triple extension and double shift movements, both horizontally and vertically, to correct certain perspectives. Made entirely of steel, the Heli-Clack is completely covered in leather.
The lens is a Rietzschel Solinear, with the particularity of being a 4-lens in 2-group lens (2 in front of the shutter and 2 after). The front group can be unscrewed to accommodate an optical accessory that allowed for telephoto shots.
