Chronology of cameras Zeiss Ikon
This 1929 folding camera for glass plates in 9 x 12 format is the entry-level version among the models for plates from Zeiss Ikon. It is only fitted with a brilliant finder and does not feature lens shift or tilt. However some models are equipped with a spirit level located next to the distance adjustment slider. Of course, it also benefits from the direct view on the ground glass. Therefore one can easily assume that if this Simplex did not revolutionize the photographic industry of the time, it made it possible, without spending a fortune, to approach plate photography with a camera worthy of the reputation of Zeiss Ikon.
The history of the Simplex will continue and a few years later Zeiss Ikon will reuse this model name for a bakelite folding camera.
