Chronology of cameras Buisson
Buisson was a small manufacturer from the late 19th century. There were many such small builders whose photographic history did not retain their name. Their local activity and the lack of originality in their production condemned them to oblivion. However, some, even though they were "local," produced original and ingenious pieces. This is the case with Buisson's productions.
This is a primitive detective camera, made of mahogany, without covering. (No. 370)
Its lens is unbranded, on a Buisson "JB" shutter, armed by a cord, with three speeds achieved by tensioning a spring. The diaphragm is rotary with four holes. Focus is achieved through a rack moving a small internal drawer that carries the optical block.
The twelve-plate magazine locks with a key. The compartment receiving the exposed plates is closed by a curtain of wooden slats, similar to double-frame holders.
The retractable system was patented by the Lumière brothers.
Such a camera cost 250 francs at that time.
