Chronology of cameras Burke and James
The build quality is robust, with a certain ruggedness, for this camera entirely made of lightweight alloy. Less famous than the Graflex cameras they competed with, the Burke & James Speed Press models were sturdy and appreciated by their users.
The renowned photographer Weegee used a B&J of this type (among others!). The back is rotatable, allowing the camera to be kept in a horizontal position at all times and enabling both horizontal and vertical shots.
