Chronology of cameras Ihagee

This folding, which belonged to my grandparents, is the first old camera I have owned, and it was the one that gave me the taste for vintage cameras.

Its uniqueness comes from the ability to make images in 6 x 9 cm or 6 x 4.5 cm by means a cache that I unfortunately do not have.
The Auto Ultrix was produced from 1933 to 1939, this specimen bearing the No. 561712, in a numbering ranging from 406,720 to 591,630. This allows to estimate its production in 1938, based on 26,400 units per year.
At the time, the Ihagee catalog proposed nearly 700 combinations of shutters and lenses. Mine is equipped with a Gauthier Prontor shutter , offering from B and T exposures to1 / 125 s. The 9 blade diaphragm opens to 6.3 and closes to 22.
The lens is an anastigmat Ihagee. The focal length is 105 mm, which is the standard length for a 6x9cm format, making it a "small telephoto" to 6 x 4.5 (as we would say today, a "90mm equivalent" to the 24 x 36!).
To be noticed, the bellows shows a rare state of preservation, and it still happens to me to take pictures with this camera. The results are honest, but require work under the enlarger to obtain decent prints.

I lived a very emotional experience with this camera; I have pictures of my mother made ??in front of an hotel of Carteret in 1957, I went in August 2006 to show these pictures to the owner of the hotel ... which recognized her husband in the photos, as she does not yet know him at the time of the shooting. I gave her copies of the photos, and this lady was delighted to show them to her son, who had never seen a picture of his father when he was about twenty years old ...
