Chronology of cameras Polaroid

Traduction de Sylvain Halgand

In 1978, a series of Polaroid appeared provided with a focusing assisted by sonar (which had asked for 20 years of research). The cameras of this series are easily recognizable by the enormous transmitter of the sonar. This one round, is gilded and protected by a grid in honeycomb. The body is very close to that of 1000, 2000 etc… In this series, the ejection of the photograph is automatic.

The 4000 was presented by the French press in February 1980, after the 5000 (1979).
The body is in ABS, of two tone of brown .
The lens of 114 mm opens to 9,5. It consists of 3 treated lenses. The focusing is possible 0,9 m ad infinitum. The automatism is disengageable, but I do not know how. A silicium cell ensures the control of exposure. The 4000 uses the Sx-70 film with built-in battery (Polapulse).
The model presented is equipped with a specific flash Toshiba P-25.
