A Russian camera, copies of German, bought by French at the fine bottom of Scotland. What a strange destiny! Normal for this camera which will be manufactured during 51 years by Russian.
At the end of the war, the latter were going to make low hand on the chains of production of Contax survivors of the allied bombardments and to transfer them in Ukraine. The starting of the “new” chains was hard, but Russian, stubborn persons, were not going to cease improving the copy, at the point to make a camera with whole share of it, full with quality.
This version 4 is equipped with a rangefinder, of a uncoupled cell (protected by a hinged shutter), of a lens interchangeable Jupiter 2/50 mm. It seems that the first two figures of the job number indicate the year of manufacture.
Patrice-Herve Pont wrote a very good (like always) article on this camera in the n° 184 of Chasseur d'Images (06/1996).
