Chronology of cameras Voss

Walter Voss, born in Thuringia in Dingelstädt in 1908, gave his name to the company that produced the Diax and Diaxette series. After studying in the field of commerce, he was able to surround himself with competent engineers to create the Diax-Kamera-Werk Voss located in Ulm/Donau.

From 1947 to 1957, the company produced approximately 100,000 cameras. The factory always remained the smallest camera manufacturing facility in Germany, with a maximum of 70 employees and a craft-oriented spirit.
In 1957, the factory closed its doors. Unlike the many takeovers and mergers that were happening at that time and into the mid-1960s, the company was liquidated, with Walter Voss admitting that his products were no longer competitive in the face of Japanese competition.

The Diax, which appeared on the market in 1947, underwent successive versions. According to McKeown, the first version had a flat hood with only the Diax inscription.
The second version from 1948 remained similar, but the Diax marking was accompanied by "W. Voss - Ulm/D."
The third version from 1949 featured a sync socket on the front.
The hood of the fourth version from 1951 was modified; it had a small indentation at the shoe to enlarge the viewfinder.

The Diax was replaced by the Diaxette in 1953.
