Chronology of cameras Wirgin

The Wirgin Gewirette is a small camera for 16 frames of 3 x 4 cm format on film 127, which was produced between 1932 and c.1937. This particular model is a late camera from 1937, identifiable by the nickel body. This model was sold rebranded as Adoxette in 1938, when the Wirgin factory was taken over by Adox.
It has a collapsible lens, and an eye level optical off-center viewfinder. Film loads from the top, which is unlatched by turning the right-sided top knob. There is an accessory shoe at the top. The film advance is controlled by two uncovered red windows on the back.
The Gewirette was produced in a variety of combination of shutters and lenses. This specimen has a Compur shutter up to 1/300, and the lens is a Schneider-Kreuznach Radionar with 5 cm of focal length and maximum aperture of 2.9.
