Chronology of cameras Bentzin
The Bentzin Moment-Klapp-Camera was produced between 1896 and at least 1899. It was attributed to Stegemann due to the resemblance of the wooden struts to his Hand-Camera, namely by H.D. Abring in the book 'Von Daguerre bis Heute' volume IV. However, as shown by Dieter Scheiba (published by Jan Beenken in Photo Antiquaria 132 pg 53, 2017) it is in fact a Curt Bentzin camera.
The camera is a strut folding type with top and bottom articulated wooden struts. It has a lensboard with rise and shift which was registered by Curt Bentzin (DGM 64916). The shutter is a Bentzin focal plane with the mechanism exposed, with variable lower tension. The lens is an Anastigmat (no brand inscribed) with 7,2 of maximum aperture, although period adverts refer Goerz and Zeiss lenses. The camera could be fitted with a rollfilm back and the tripod socket is advanced for this purpose.
The camera was also commercialised by the maker Schlesicky-Ströhlein.
