Chronology of cameras Nikon
This camera was released in 1989, that is to say at a pivotal era when liquid crystal displays grouping all the parameters and small setting buttons replace the large mono-adjustment dials.
The setting dials are still present on the F-401s body, but they are grouped under a plexiglass cover and can only be turned by their edge. The other buttons start to have a reduced size.
The F-401s is named after N4004s AF in the United States.
