Chronology of cameras Lumiere 

In the early thirties, Lumière had a series of plate cameras in their catalog, with formats of 6.5 x 9 cm and 9 x 12 cm. These cameras appear to have come from the Joinville workshops, which Lumière acquired following Hémax's bankruptcy.
The 1931 catalog provides a comprehensive overview of this series, allowing for easy establishment of a hierarchy based on pricing.

There were four types of shutters available:

Type II: Shutter offering speeds of 1/25, 1/50, 1/100, B, T
Type III: Ibsor model
Type IV: Compur model
Type V: Compur model with delay

The Starter, Tahka, and Ultra models could also be supplied with Havana leather covering for an additional 50 francs over the prices listed below.

Les appareils dits tropicaux ou coloniaux sont d'une fabrication spéciale pour éviter les phénomènes d'oxydation des pièces métalliques, de moisissure des soufflet et gainerie et de travail du bois (dilatation et séchage).  Pour cela, le bois est un bois exotique, comme le Teck, la gainerie est absente et le soufflet est traité, les pièces sont d'un métal ou subissent un traitement évitant l'oxydation.

Lumière donne le nom de Colonial, ce qui n'empêchent pas certains catalogues de se mélanger les pincieaux en l'appelant Tropical.

Il est à double tirage, fanbirqué en Teck avec des renforts en laiton. Il y a une double crémaillère.
