Chronology of cameras Leonar

LeonarThe German company Lüttke & Arndt, which later became Arndt & Lowengard and then Leonar Werke, was located in Wandsbek, near Hamburg. It produced photographic plates, films, and papers, and also manufactured cameras between 1900 and 1918.

__________

Compared to the models presented in the Mc Keown (p. 620) this camera is top of the range and  shows a beautiful manufacturing.
The body is made of wood with a metal bed black painted as well as the lens stand system. Other metal parts are nickel-plated and finely machined with precision.
The shutter is a Koilos but bears no signature from Kenngott nor that of Gauthier and perhaps it is a transition model.
The lens is a "Doppel - Anast Leonar S. IIa f = 135 mm. 1: 6.8 - Leonar - Werke Wandebek." and it may be separated in two parts by unscrewing the front block, while allowing to focus to infinity with double extension.
The rise and fall is controlled by a rack, while the horizontal shift is made by friction. A spirit level is attached to the rotatable (and folding) viewfinder and two Congress type nuts are completing the equipment.
