October / November 1985: the private Halgand is heating an instant coffee in an aluminium cup. The result is disgusting, but warms, and let be more patient near Angers. This camera is extraordinary, because it is able to bear lots of things, including clowning of “our crazy soldiers”.
It called HD-M for Heavy-Duty Motor. It follows the HD-S of 1980. The addition of an motordrive improves handling in difficult situations and makes it even more watertight.
This camera is really tight under two meters of water *. Most other features remain identical to those of HD-S: programmed automatism, an average metering to the down, built-in flash (NG 12), manual focus from 1m to infinity with reminder in symbols in the viewfinder, power by two AA batteries very easy to find...
The lens is a Fujinon f 2.8/38mm with a Tessar formula (4 elements in 3 groups). The sensitivity is possible at 1600 ASA and the locking of the rear back has been improved in terms of handling and safety.
The dimensions are the same ones to those of HD-S.
Two years later, it comes the HD-R.
* HD-S was not supposed to dive resisted without problem dumping to 4m (although the blocking of some functions by pressure), while the HD-M bear 15m in deep without concern.
Embossing under the flash contains the batteries. The button (red) of the shutter is just next to its security. The REW button allows the rewinding.
