Chronology of cameras Canon
Approximately 16,000 units of the Canon 7S were produced from February 1965 to August 1967 (serial numbers: 100,000 to 118,500). It replaced the Canon 7 with some modifications.
It is an interchangeable lens rangefinder camera. The mount is of the 39mm screw type (like Leica), but there is also a specific bayonet for mounting the Canon 0.95/50mm lens, with a large diameter.
The rangefinder has a large base. Parallax is corrected. There are frames corresponding to 35, 50, 80/100, and 135mm. The standard 50mm lens exists in f/1.2, f/1.4, or f/1.8, and of course, the holy grail is the f/0.95.
Loading is done from the back. On one side, there is a side bayonet sync flash socket for "UNIT II" flash.
It differs from the Canon 7 in that its meter is now CdS (Cadmium Sulfide). It has two sensitivity levels. The window for reading the meter indications is different.
