Chronology of cameras Chinon

Traduction de P-Y Petit.

A dummy of this camera was presented during 1980 Photokina. This dummy was static and didn’t help figuring out which technologies were chosen, particularly for the focusing system.

Journalists were surprised by the confusing surronding the model names of this small Japanese manufacturer, which presented a 35 F-AM a year before (beware of the confusion in Mc Keown’s). Furthermore, the 35 F-AM was on late planning, and wasn’t commercially launched yet when the 35 F-MA was presented.

The final product was launched late in 1981. It kept the appearance and the Chinonex Color 1:2.8 38mm lens of the dummy. A motor controls film winding, advance and rewinding. Metering is done thanks to a CdS cell. The Seiko shutter ranges from 1/8th to 1/500th.

The collimated finder has a LED for underexposure and another one, green, for autofocusing.
