Chronology of cameras Idam
The company IDAM, Industrie d'Appareils Mécaniques, has manufactured at least four small cameras cast in Zamak (an alloy composed of Zinc, Aluminum, Magnesium, and Copper). The four known models are Roc, Clic, Belco, and Ervey. The first model, Clic, uses Bantam film. Its viewfinder is simple, with two lenses. The subsequent models have a somewhat unusual combination of two viewfinders. The manufacturer justifies this by explaining that one of the two is used for subject framing, and the other (Galilean type) is for actual aiming. The large viewfinder often gives the impression of losing a built-in extinction light meter.
Years | Size | Viewfinder | Lens | Shutter
Clic | 1949-51 | 3 x 3 (828) | 1 | Bilux 8/3.5 cm | P, I
Roc | 1951-59 | 4 x 4 (127) | 2 | Bilux 8/4.5 cm | P, I
Belco | c. 1951 | P, I | ||||
Ervey | 50's | ? |
The announcement of a 4 x 4 format is optimistic, as the darkroom window measures 3.5 x 3.5 cm.__________
The Clic is the most basic model in the series and also the first chronologically.
It features a single viewfinder, and the back is held in place by simple pressure. The transition from Instantaneous to Time exposure is done through the small slider located under the rectangular part.
Each movement of the shutter release lever opens the shutter, which could be annoying for users, especially since there is no way to lock it.
