From 1956 on, Leica M3 was fitted with a field selector. This is the lever seen on the right front of the body. It allows having the size of a bright frame vary inside the viewfinder, in order to realize what would be the photograph aspect in case of a lens modification. This device pleasantly achieves the automatic changing of bright frame when you change lenses.
The speed scale is different from the 1955’s one.
Some minor differences let guess the making year, such as the presence or the shape of screws
