Chronology of cameras Olympus
Traduction Patrick Marot. This camera is very important for cameras history because it produces a rupture in standard model's camera classification. Before it, there were compacts and reflex. This one is between these others. Journalists, at the time of its show in Phot'Argus much insisted about this fact. Very annoyed, they were unable to give a name for this model.
In this case, has been conceived in a very original kind. The viewfinder is totally a zoom with six lenses and his focusing is coupled to the focusing shooting zoom. This zoom has another interest: it's the first one with an x3 amplitude (more than 100 mm). It's build with excellent quality. Olympus staked very much on optical quality in order to the public forget this camera is not a real SLR;
As if all these originalities were not sufficient, it's necessary to know that exposure metering is realised in the viewfinder, with correction according to focal in order to take ratio of sky into account in picture composition aso...
Exposure metering has two mode. In Auto mode, it is realised central with ponderation and spot on a little central area. In spot mode, only spot mesuring on 5% central picture is used.
There is a button " subject " which permise an automatic focal adjustment in order to have always the same size of the subject when shooter or subject are moving.
