Chronology of cameras Inconnue
This French-produced binocular has an elegant and unusual tapered shape for its time. It could date from around 1885, given the relatively primitive internal central shutter lens, operated by an elastic. From 1886 onwards, pneumatic shutters started to appear.
It features an iris diaphragm with apertures ranging from 1 to 44. After focusing using a ground glass, the removable rear drawer can be attached, which has two doors - one at the back for loading plates and one on the side, complemented by a leather bag, allowing the exposed plate to be passed to the back of the plate series.
An aluminum sliding plate allows covering the first plate while waiting for the shot, during the focusing time.
