Chronology of cameras Astre
The cameras called Astre Focal Plane are klapp type cameras with a curtain shutter placed in front of the plate. This type of shutter allows achieving speeds not possible with central shutters. The 1914 catalog indicates a maximum speed of 1/2500.
These cameras have a rectangular front plate supporting the lens, which can be decentered in both axes, and the diaphragm. It is connected to the main body by four tensioning arms. The bellows is rectangular with sharp edges, and there are few folds.
The basic viewfinder is located on the main body and does not consider the shooting distance. In the main body, you'll find the curtain shutter. The speed adjustments for it are on the right side.
These cameras come in various formats and two finishes. One of the finishes is intended for warmer climates, using teak and copper for the hardware."
