This camera is an example of “colonial” folding camera (tropical) of french type of this time. Its designation of origin can give confusion because it is about more a folding view camera that of a detective camera.
The cylindrical rails of focusing the guilloched metal plates are characteristic. The plate lens-holder could be horizontally and vertically off-centred by sliding motion.
This model is that of 1903. On the model 1904, the front plate will disappear for the benefit of a more traditional support.
