Chronology of cameras Bing
Bing was originally, in 1864, a wholesale haberdashery business. The two founding brothers set up in Nuremberg and added metal items to their list of goods. Gradually, they focused on selling metal objects, a major industry in Nuremberg. They established their own factory, which employed 3000 people at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1908, the company became the world's first toy manufacturer.
After the First World War, the company expanded through acquisitions and diversified, making management increasingly challenging. Among the acquired companies was one called Optica. In 1927, the company's president, Stephan Bing, and his son, worked for another Nuremberg toy manufacturer. The 1929 crisis led the company to bankruptcy in 1932. That year, the Bing family, who were Jewish, left Nazi Germany for Great Britain. The tooling of the Bing company was mainly taken over by a competitor, Bub (Kbn).
The Bing Fita is a small folding camera built between 1931 and 1936 in Nuremberg. Its format is 5 x 8 cm, and it features a meniscus lens of 11/105 mm. It is unclear whether it is a Bing-manufactured product or distributed by the company.
