Chronology of cameras Ricoh
1938 voit l'apparition chez Asahi Kōgaku Kōgyō des Adler A et B, deux boîtiers pliants de format 4,5 x 6 cm.
Inférieur en gamme et en prix, l'Adler B est un folding inspiré de l'Ikonta A (520) sans grande originalité, on notera le système de déploiement automatique du viseur avec la mise en batterie et un déclencheur déporté sur la face supérieure de l'appareil.
La société Asahi Bussan spécialisée dans les boîtiers moulés en bakélite avait fait appel à différents sous-traitants pour créer sa gamme de boîtiers métalliques Adler.
En 1938 Riken n'a absorbé Asahi Bussan pour créer Asahi Kōgaku Kōgyō que depuis un an et selon camera-wiki la similitude de l'appareil avec d'autres productions contemporaines fait penser qu'il a été fabriqué par la compagnie Yamamoto Shashinki Kōsakusho.
Le site web historique de Ricoh confirme la sous-traitance du boîtier mais amalgame les Adler A et B alors qu'ils sont de fabrication visiblement différente (formes plutôt arrondies pour l'Adler A présenté sur le site Ricoh et copie de Zeiss Ikon avec des arêtes biens marquées pour cet Adler B)
