Chronology of cameras Goerz

The Goerz Ango (from ANschütz and GOerz) was introduced in 1905 as an improvement of the Goerz Anschütz Model I. The non self-capped shutter patented by Ottomar Anschütz was modified, and an optical folding viewfinder, with a blue back lens, substituted the simple folding wire frame viewfinder. The front standard remained uncovered, but around 1913 it was delivered with leather cover. The Goerz Ango was produced in a variety of formats, from 8 x 10.5 cm to 13 x 18 plus a number of specific British formats, as well as stereoscopic versions.
This particular camera, in the format 8 x 10.5, has leather-covered front and due its serial number (42334) it was probably made shortly after WWI. The lensboard has horizontal and vertical movements.
The self-capped shutter delivers speeds in the range 1/10 to 1/1200 plus B and T. It has a pneumatic delay mechanism for the slow speeds. The lens is a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar with a focal length of 13.5 cm and maximum aperture of 4.5.
