Ernemann is one of the monuments of German photographic industry. Heinrich Ernemann based his company in 1889. 250 colleagues worked in his workshops of Dresden at the end of the years 1800 and they were some 3000 in 1923, year which can be regarded as representative the apogee of the brand since the economic recession of the years 1920 led Ernemann to amalgamate with ICA, Goerz and Contessa-Nettel in 1926 to live again under Zeiss name
Ernemann belongs to these manufacturers who built the entirety of the items of their production: body, optics, shutter. It developed, also, an important production of materials for the cinema.
