Chronology of cameras Clement
Traduction de Manuel M
Its construction mixes stamped plate (back and part of fronting), aluminum (lens-holder, flap), wood (body back), and leather (bellows, sleeving and handle). Most parts carry a number: 179 in this precise case.
The bellows are with manual extraction, and like always in this case, the focusing is done thanks to a mark with notches on the left side: the graduations are 2,3,7 and infinite.
Sleeving, out of thick leather with coarse grain, is grooved deeply, and comprises in its top part the inscription “Erce” in a rhombus. It is undoubtedly initials “R” and “C”, this one probably for Clément, but the “R” remains obscure…
The lens is an anastigmat Claror L here. Clement F=105 1:6,3, and the shutter is still a mystery: it is about a “Stella” with dial, comprising a monogram “A” and “G” in its centre. Is this a former marking of Arsene Gitzhoven ? Speeds go from 1/25 to 1/100 second, and of course poses B and T.
Two nuts of foot allow the vertical or horizontal exposurest.
I found mention of this camera only in “the French Cameras” of Francesch, Bovis, Boucher, ISBN 2-86941-176-6.
