Chronology of cameras Staley 

A.E. Staley was established around 1895 in London, becoming agents for Bausch & Lomb and Rochester Camera among other brands. The Focal Plane Royal was delivered around 1905. The camera was made by Rudolf Krügener under the name Delta-Zweiverschluss-Camera and delivered in Germany from around 1902. It was fitted with a variety of shutter/lens combinations including the Bausch & Lomb central shutters that equipped the British versions. The camera was also available by O. Sichel & Co under the name “Sickle Focal Plane Camera”, fitted with Beck lenses.
This specimen is for 4x5 inch plates and is fitted with a Bausch & Lomb central shutter (1 to 1/100, B, T) and a focal plane shutter delivering speeds up to 1/1000 second. The lens is a Staley 5x4 Planastigmat with 5.5 inch of focal length and maximum aperture of 6.8.
