Chronology of cameras Houghton

They are small and rather scarce the foldings offering the format 1 5/8x2 ¼”.

In theory, they provide for doubling the number of pictures that would be offered by a 6x9 cm camera.
The design is quite squat but elegant, involving quality materials and numerous generously chrome plated components. The camera is particularly compact and is fitted with an optical viewfinder that gives a nicely barrel distorted image.
The shutter release button is external and is located between the viewfinder and the film rewind knob.
The leatherette, at the top of the body, is bearing the stamped name “Ensign” and bellow it, the model name “Selfix 16-20”.
The lens is a 75 mm f 4.5 Rosstar
The shutter is an Epsilon offering eight speeds from 1 sec to 1/300 sec + B & T
The camera opens by means of a curious double hinge system.
