Chronology of cameras Gallus
Traduction de Manuel M
The normal model is known and already presented in addition on the site through several alternatives.
This precise specimen, by its characteristics, is of a private interest insofar as it illustrates without ambiguity association between the Gallus manufacturer (former French house which works with faithful customers) and a German manufacturer, Foth, which seems runs away the Nazi regime at the end of the Thirties.
This association between the two manufacturers is also known through the production of the camerasof the Foth-Derby family and Derby-Lux.
Gallus will market this one without known publicity.
The origin of the mould of this camera remains mysterious. B.Vial makes reference to Ebner, a German manufacturer who produced only bakelite models. However the Ebner body differs in the details. Perhaps that it is Foth which brought from there the mould in the wedding presents with Gallus. Let us note in the passing that this mould was resold by Gallus at Pontiac which delivered some bakelite cameras under its brand.
