Chronology of cameras Rollei
The Wide-Angle Rolleiflex is built on the 2.8E2, as also the Tele-Rolleilfex. These special models were developed in face of the competition and because Rollei abandoned the project of making a Rolleiflex with interchangeable lenses. This model was produced between April 1961 and late 1967, and only 3900 cameras were built. The unique characteristics of this TLR and its scarcity makes it the most expensive Rolleiflex in the second hand market.
The taking objective is a Zeiss Distagon 55mm opening at f4, being a seven-element reverse telephoto. The shutter is a Synchro-Compur 0-MXV delivering speeds between 1-1/500 plus B, with M and X synchronisation. It has the optional non-coupled Selenium cell photometer meter supplied by Gossen.
One of the most interesting characteristics is the large albada viewfinder (two lenses in a reverse Galilean telescope mode) for eye-level direct-vision, on the interchangeable viewfinder.
Two variants were produced, the main difference being that the second model could use film 220 and also 120.
