Chronology of cameras Alibert
This 9 x 12 cm format folding strut camera is made of black wood (ebony or blackened pear). It may be loaded with double plate holders, strutes are showing two grooves for positioning the plate at two different distances The lens barrel allows for the focusing by means of an helical but without distance indication.
The lens is an Extra Rapide Serie I which is fixed by screwing on this focusing ring. It incorporates an iris type diaphragm numbered 16 22 32 64 and an internal rotary shutter offering various speed and actuated by a rubber band.
The body is fitted with two tripod threaded sockets (neither Kodak nor Congress), two spirit levels and two fasteners to mount and external viewfinder. This leads to think that this camera was delivered with a ground glass.
