Les Ensign Carbine ont d'abord été construits par Butcher, et par Houghton suite à la fusion des marques en 1926.
Initialement construits pour pellicules seulement, ils ont souvent évolués vers des appareils mixtes pellicule/plaque.
Il s'agit là d'un folding pour pellicule 6 x 9, dit "de luxe", au gainage et soufflet en cuir, avec décentrement micrométrique et mise au point rapide par régulateur (?).
